Recent art piece: east van skate logo

Despite what you think of the giant public art piece at the corner of Clarke and 2nd showcasing a giant cross and the words “east van” in it… The original “icon” was actually a knock off of the “dog town” logo from the California skate scene. This piece being more representative of this original. From what I have read I believe this icon became most notorious when it was spray painted on the ghetto skatepark located at Broadway and Clarke – known as China Creek.

Given I live just blocks from these roots and am an avid skateboarder I thought this the perfect addition to our home.

Piece itself is roughly 36″ x 36″ vinyl on plexi backlit with LED. Special thanks to HUB Graphics and Thought Shop for the help with the vinyl.
